About us
At Studio Onha, we believe that art is more than creating something beautiful—it is an opportunity to slow down, be present, and reconnect with ourselves.
Founded by a Korean-trained traditional painter and educator, Studio Onha was born from a deep appreciation for the beauty and philosophy of Korean traditional painting. There is something uniquely moving about the way ink gently spreads across hanji paper, the way colours slowly build layer by layer, and the quiet concentration that emerges through each brushstroke. These moments are not simply part of the painting process—they are part of a way of seeing and experiencing the world.
After moving overseas, I discovered that many people were curious about Korean traditional art but found the materials difficult to access or the process unfamiliar and intimidating. I also met many who wanted to learn but were limited by distance, time, or the belief that they were not “artistic enough.” Studio Onha’s painting kits were created to bridge that gap.
Our mission is to make the beauty of Korean traditional painting and Minhwa accessible to everyone. No prior experience is needed. We believe that the value of painting does not lie in creating a perfect artwork, but in embracing the process itself—the quiet moments of focus, curiosity, and creativity.
In today’s fast-paced world, we believe there is great value in slowing down. Taking time to paint, to observe, and to create with intention allows us to experience a different rhythm of life—one that is calmer, more mindful, and deeply rewarding.
Many of our customers tell us that painting becomes a form of healing: a chance to disconnect from daily pressures and reconnect with themselves through the simple act of making.
At Studio Onha, we hope to share more than just Korean traditional art techniques. We hope to share the beauty of Korean culture, the wisdom of slow creation, and the joy of making something meaningful with your own hands.
We hope that each brushstroke becomes not only the beginning of a painting, but also the beginning of a quieter, more thoughtful moment in your day.
